Investment industry models are ‘gender-neutral’ that actually default to men’s preferences, salaries, career paths, and lifespans. We need gender-smart investing models that factor in women’s career and investment curve.
Social Goals
Due to their different social roles, women tend to engage with financial services differently from men. Women live, on average, 4.9 years longer than men. Not only that, but women make less money over their lifetimes.
We are Professional
Why would women need their own financial services?
It is well documented—across countries and cultures— that women undertake most daily household economic activities (transactions and decisions). Women control or influence 80 percent of financial decisions and 85 percent of consumer spending.
While women undertake most household spending decisions, men are more involved in or make larger decisions like buying a car or a house, choosing a mortgage, and investing long-term savings.
Artham’s focus is to demystify finance, build gender smart investing platforms and finance-focused communities for women.
Our Focus
Women need a financial platform that took into account specifics related to their lives — like the fact that their salary graph over a lifetime is different from men because women typically live longer; or because there are salary differentials between women’s and men’s pay; as well other factors that some women face — like choosing to take time off from a career to focus on children.
